In throwing nothing is more valuable than your sense of touch on a purely technical level. a practice that is exceptionally useful in this regard is Throwing blindfolded. Visualize and produce work with all the qualities your regular work has. Perhaps have someone put a piece in front of you to replicate by feeling it as you throw. Focus on proportions, curve continuity, smoothness, and get as close as you can. Put your tools in an ordered way to avoid blindly searching. This must be met as practice with the courage and willingness to “fail”. On a neurological level you are building tactile and visualization pathways essential to the art form. Take the challenge.
