Ventura County Potters‘ Guild
The Ventura County Potters’ Guild is a community of over 140 people devoted to the ceramic arts. Founded in 1957, we create opportunities to share our craft with one another and with the public at large. Our members include professional and recreational potters as well as ceramists who are instructors from local elementary, high school, college and adult education classes. Our members travel from Los Alamos, Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Burbank, Reseda, Valencia and beyond!
We are looking to grow and diversify our membership as we continue to promote interest in all facets of the making and appreciation of the ceramic arts.
Members who are makers can benefit from the Guild’s multiple sales venues, including a brick and mortar Gallery, semi-annual outdoor markets, and an online store; money-saving bulk clay orders; ceramic-themed programs and get togethers, both virtual and in-person; workshops with ceramists from near and far; and a network of expert members whose generosity and expertise are our most valuable resource.
The Guild’s outreach to the public includes exposing elementary- through college-age students to the ceramic arts. We sponsor scholarships for promising students and mentors for emerging artists to help them hone their technical skills and develop their creative vision. And, we partner with community organizations to raise funds to meet the varied needs of our neighbors.
We are one of only three Potters’ Guilds in California: San Diego, Ventura and Berkeley.
