As a member of the Ventura County Potters' Guild you will have access to an amazing array of opportunities. This extensive list is possible because of the commitment of time and expertise generously shared by our diversely talented community. Benefits with an asterisk require a Plus Tier membership.
Monthly Programs
Using Zoom for most of our meetings we are able to extend the reach of our presenters to include experts from across the US and as far away as New Zealand. Programs have included notable artists such as Frank and Polly Martin, John Britt, Julia Feld, Patrica Griffin and Elaine Pinkernel, and presenters from Amaco and Orton. Members were introduced to the amazing resources at Makers’ Space at Moorpark College and went back to basics with in-depth sessions taught by Wyn Matthews on feet and handles.
Pottery Jams
A new and successful offering for Guild members are our informal Pottery Jams. These no- to low-cost gatherings in member studios and spaces invite small groups to gather around a specific technique, skill set or interest. The Jams range in length from 2-4 hours, may include hands-on experiences, show and tell, active discussion, exchange of expertise and ideas or all of the above. Some topics covered at recent Jams: Sgraffito, The Versatility of Stains, a Sculpture Roundtable and Jars and Lids.
Members’ Clay & Supplies Order*
The Guild's clay and supply orders from Aardvark and Laguna are one of our greatest Plus Tier member benefits! The opportunity to order clay and other materials occurs three (3) times each year. (Jan, May & Sept). By ordering as a group, we get favorable shipping and excellent quantity discounts on clay. Besides clay, you can order anything from their catalogs, such as glazes, tools, kiln shelves/furniture, and bulk raw materials.

Member Connect
Connect to other members of the guild via forums and email exchange. Topics include general clay interest, technical help and items wanted or for sale.
Workshops
Members and guest artists conduct workshops available at a discount to current members.
Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts Exhibit
The internationally recognized Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts invites our Guild to create an annual juried exhibition of our members' works. All Guild members may participate. Exhibited work is offered for sale.
Jury
The Guild offers the opportunity for members to have their work juried. This process allows members to receive constructive feedback on their work which may include suggestions on ways that the work could be improved. Those members desiring to sell their work at Guild sales venues must receive a positive score/pass during the jury process.
Photo Box*
Take professional photos of your work with the Guild’s photo box. Available by appointment for easy use at the Ventura Harbor Gallery. Online instructional video for its use is available on the Guild's YouTube Channel.
Member Portfolio*
Showcase your work on the Guild's website. Create a professional profile and portfolio of your work and link it to your social media accounts.
