Glaze

new Mayco glazes
Author Last Post

Has everyone been trying the new glazes in this year's Mayco sample pack? So far I've tested them at a hot ^5, and found that the "crystal" type glazes performed surprisingly well, as did the glosses, but others like Ivy or Nimbus that were supposed to be glossy were dull with a few small areas of clustered blisters. I'm going to test these at ^6, but I'm not sure if I should include a hold. I usually do ^5 with a 10 minute hold and a slow cool. What have all your experiences been with these glazes, any tips for firing them well? I'm including a pic of a piece with nimbus, so you can see the kind of result I had. Btw, I know these glazes say they take ^6, I've just had success with Maycos at ^5 before, and want an idea what my options are without testing six different firing schedules. :)
